Capital FM Commercial Director Charged with Threatening to Kill Business Associate
A senior manager at one of Kenya’s top radio stations has been charged with threatening to kill her former business associate in an incident that allegedly happened more than three years ago.
Farida Idris Mohamed, the Commercial Director at Capital FM, appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina, where she denied charges of issuing death threats and using abusive, unprintable language against Nairobi businessman Hussein Aila Amaro.
Alleged Threat Messages Sent in 2019
According to the charge sheet, Farida is accused of sending a series of threatening text messages to Amaro using her Safaricom mobile phone. The messages were allegedly sent on June 14, 2019, at around 10:14 a.m., from an unknown location.
One of the alleged messages read:
“Now tell me what the f… you will do to me and you see I will finish you and bloody Swarna combined.”
A second count states that at 13:59 hours on the same day, she allegedly sent another message stating:
“I will kill you and if I get that Swarna you have been f… while you were with me and still f… every day… she will know who I am then the two of you can continue f… in HELL.”
In yet another threatening message sent to Amaro, Farida allegedly wrote in capital letters:
“I WILL KILL YOU WITH MY HANDS AND DRAG YOUR BODY ON HOT TARMAC UNTIL NOBODY CAN RECOGNIZE THAT ROTTEN BODY OF YOURS THEN BURY YOU BEFORE YOU PROCEED TO HELL.”
Prosecutors told the court that the threatening messages were preserved as digital evidence and would be produced during the hearing.
Bail Set at Sh100,000
Magistrate Onyina ordered Farida to deposit cash bail of Sh100,000 to secure her release pending trial.
The prosecution has lined up more than five witnesses to testify against her, including digital forensic experts and recipients of the forwarded messages.
Summoned by DCI
Farida appeared in court after being served with formal summons by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) ordering her to present herself for plea taking.
The case will be mentioned on a date to be set by the court as the prosecution prepares its witness bundle.
