The plea-taking of Mary Waithera Gikonyo, a 50-year-old woman accused of maliciously damaging property worth KSh325,000, has been postponed after her defense team cited illness.
Waithera’s lawyers, Ishmael Nyaribo and John Swaka, informed the court that their client was unwell and unable to attend the scheduled proceedings. They presented medical documents in support of their claim, which the prosecution did not oppose.
Case Background
Waithera was set to appear before the Kibera Law Courts on Tuesday to face charges of willfully and unlawfully destroying property belonging to Eric Munene.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged offense took place on March 22, 2025, along Kumbe Road in the Hardy area, Lang’ata Sub-county. She allegedly damaged a main gate, broke the house door, smashed window panes, and destroyed a CCTV camera, alongside others not before the court.
Police investigations were conducted by officers from Hardy Police Station, under file number CR 172/22/2025.
Arrest and Next Court Date
Waithera was arrested on October 13, 2025, and arraigned the following day. She was released on police bail of KSh20,000 pending plea-taking, which has now been rescheduled to November 28, 2025.
Key Takeaway
The case underscores the need for timely court appearances and fair legal proceedings as the matter proceeds to the Kibera Law Courts later in November.
