Kev Oduor Accuses Dr Ben Chumo of Unlawful Removal of Children in Escalating Custody Dispute

A custody dispute between Kev Oduor and senior professional Dr Ben Chumo has moved into the public spotlight following serious allegations made by Oduor regarding the whereabouts of his two children.

Oduor has publicly claimed that his sons, Kwame Oduor and Tafari Oduor, were removed from his custody on December 12, 2025, without what he describes as proper legal process.

However, the allegations have not been determined by a courtSocial Health Authority CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi Faces Scrutiny in Sh77 Million Legal Fees Scandal of law.

Claims of Lack of Due Process

In a public statement, Oduor said he had maintained full physical custody of the children for more than four years prior to the incident.

He alleges that the minors were taken to visit Dr Ben Chumo and were subsequently moved beyond his reach without his consent.

Oduor further claims that no court order authorizing the children’s removal was formally served to him.

As a result, he is demanding:

  • Proof of any lawful custody order

  • Clarification of the legal basis for the children’s relocation

  • Immediate confirmation of their wellbeing

At this stage, no official court determination has been presented publicly to support or refute these claims.

Allegations of International Travel

Oduor has also alleged that the children may have been moved outside Kenya using forged travel documentation.

He claims he remains in possession of what he describes as the children’s legitimate passports.

These claims have not been independently verified.

Alleged Police Visit

The dispute intensified after Oduor alleged that officers believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) attempted to arrest him over what he described as defamation complaints.

According to Oduor, five officers arrived at his residence on the evening of February 19, 2026.

He claims the officers were in a Subaru Outback and did not properly identify themselves.

Oduor has questioned:

  • Why he was not formally summoned during official hours

  • Why multiple officers were deployed

  • Whether proper identification procedures were followed

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has not issued a public response to these allegations.

Public Appeal for Intervention

In his public message, Oduor directly addressed Dr Ben Chumo and called for transparency regarding the legal status of the children.

He has also tagged human rights organizations, civil society groups, and media outlets in an appeal for oversight.

As of publication, Dr Ben Chumo has not publicly responded to the claims.

Legal and Human Rights Questions

The case raises broader questions about:

  • Custody enforcement procedures

  • Service of court orders

  • Allegations of cross-border movement of minors

  • The role of law enforcement in private disputes

Ultimately, the matter remains unresolved.

At the center of the dispute is a father seeking clarity on the legal status and wellbeing of his children.

Further developments are expected as the matter proceeds through appropriate legal channels.
