Plea Deferred in Kibera Court
Murimi did not take plea after the magistrate declined an application by the prosecution to detain him for six days.
The state had requested more time to complete investigations into the alleged theft.
However, Magistrate Ombewa ruled that the prosecution had not provided compelling reasons to justify the detention.
The court released Murimi on a bond of Sh1 million with a surety of a similar amount.
Alleged Withdrawal From Company Account
According to investigators, the incident occurred on February 15, 2019.
Murimi had reported to Kileleshwa Police Station that he had been abducted.
He claimed the abductors forced him to withdraw USD 60,000 from a KCB Bank account located at Sarit Centre.

CCTV Footage Raises Questions
Investigators later reviewed CCTV footage from the bank.
The footage allegedly showed Murimi withdrawing the money voluntarily.
Authorities say he then boarded a taxi that dropped him in the Kinoo area.
The prosecution believes the abduction report may have been false.
Investigations Ongoing
While seeking detention at Kilimani Police Station, investigators said they needed more time to:
-
Complete forensic auditing
-
Trace possible accomplices
-
Finalise the investigation
The case will be mentioned in court on Friday.
