Caroline Marias Charged in Sh6M Kenya Railways Theft
A trader has been charged with stealing railway bars and accessories worth over Sh6 million.
Caroline Marias appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Theresia Nyangena and denied the charges.

Sh6 Million Railway Bars Theft Allegations
Prosecutors allege that on October 28, 2025, Marias stole railway materials from Morindet Railway Station in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
The stolen items include:

Five check rails 80R
-
Eight rail steel 80 pound (80R)
-
Two crossing bars 80R
-
Four switches
The total value of the items is Sh6,010,000.
The materials belonged to Kenya Railways Corporation.

Alternative Charge of Handling Stolen Goods
Marias also faces an alternative count of handling stolen property.
The court heard that she was found in possession of the railway metals inside her Isuzu lorry.
The arrest allegedly occurred on October 28 at Area 47 along Waiyaki Way in Dagoretti.
Prosecutors claim she knew or had reason to believe the metals were stolen.
Charge of Endangering Public Safety
The trader is further accused of unlawfully damaging railway lines.
The prosecution says the damage endangered the lives of members of the public.
Bail Terms
The court released Caroline Marias on a cash bail of Sh50,000.
The case will proceed to hearing at the Milimani Law Courts.
