Tinga Media House Unveils Ambitious Plan to Launch Western Region Radio Station
Tinga Media House has officially begun laying the groundwork for a major expansion after holding its first planning meeting to outline the organisation’s strategic direction and media growth agenda.
During the session, the leadership reviewed its long-term vision and discussed several milestones set to shape its future operations. At the centre of the discussions was an ambitious proposal to establish a new radio station with a transmission frequency powerful enough to cover the entire Western region.
Programming, Community Engagement Take Centre Stage
Participants shared ideas on how the envisioned station would deliver diverse programming tailored to local audiences, including news, cultural content, talk shows, and community-driven features.
The team emphasised that the radio station would be designed not just as a broadcaster but as a platform to strengthen local voices, promote regional identity, and deepen engagement with communities across Western Kenya.
Aligning With Communications Authority Regulations
A significant part of the meeting involved reviewing requirements set by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK)—the national regulator responsible for licensing broadcasting services.
The leadership noted that Tinga Media House is aligning its operations, technical plans, and documentation with all CAK regulations to ensure full compliance before submitting a formal application for a radio frequency license.
This includes meeting standards on ownership structures, technical capabilities, equipment specifications, and public interest obligations.
A New Chapter for the Organisation
The inaugural planning session signals the start of a transformative journey for Tinga Media House. According to the team, the proposed radio station will enhance the organisation’s media footprint, open employment and partnership opportunities, and provide a powerful platform for information, accountability, and regional development.
With preparations now underway, Tinga Media House says it is committed to advancing the project while ensuring transparency, regulatory compliance, and strong community involvement.
