A young man has been charged with stealing Sh760,000 from Family Bank Kenya Limited.
Collins Korir appeared before Milimani Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo, where he denied the charges of theft and handling stolen property.
The Charges
According to the prosecution, on October 31, 2023, at an unknown place within Kenya, Korir allegedly stole Sh760,000, the property of Family Bank Kenya Limited.
In a separate count, the court heard that Korir, on the same date, dishonestly received Sh760,000 deposited into his Family Bank account domiciled at the Kisii branch, knowing or having reason to believe that the money was stolen.
Bail Terms
Magistrate Onsarigo released the accused on a cash bail of Sh150,000, pending the hearing and determination of the case.
The court directed that the matter be mentioned on a later date for pre-trial proceedings.
Next Steps
Korir is expected to appear in court once investigations are complete. The prosecution is also expected to file witness statements and supporting documents in preparation for the full trial.
